Strategic Alliances : What is it?

A strategic alliance is an arrangement between two or more companies to pursue a common and mutually beneficial business objective. Examples include marketing contracts, partnerships, joint ventures, asset purchases, stock purchases, and mergers. Because the antitrust laws limit strategic alliances that unreasonably restrain trade or result in attempts to monopolize competition, and penalties can be severe, it's absolutely essential to get legal advice before entering into a strategic alliance.
